Racial Justice Essay Contest
Fall 2024
We are working with the Equal Justice Initiative as part of our Community Remembrance Project to hold a racial justice essay contest that is open to public high school students in the City of St Louis and St Louis County.

Dates: The contest will open on September 16, 2024 and the final date to submit entries will be December 9, 2024.
Entries: Guidelines for writing your essay and how to submit your essay can be found at the details page at EJI’s essay contest web site.
Judging: The contest will be judged by representatives of EJI.
Prizes: Prizes totaling at least $5,000 will be awarded to winning participants.
Writing Workshops: If you’d be interested in attending a writing workshop related to this contest, please fill out this interest form.

A History of Racial Injustice Calendar 2024

Q: Are charter school students eligible to enter the contest?
A: Yes, charter schools in Missouri are public schools. Students in grades 9-12 attending any public school, including public charter schools, located in the City of St Louis or St Louis County are eligible.
